Corinth Pipeworks has secured multiple contracts from Snam in Italy for the design and supply of over 180 kilometers of pipeline as part of the Adriatica project, a vital energy initiative poised to significantly enhance the nation’s natural gas infrastructure.
The Adriatica pipeline stands as one of Italy’s most pivotal natural gas transmission initiatives and marks the largest undertaking of its kind in the past decade.
Details of the Contracts
The contracts encompass the provision of 48-inch diameter HSAW (Helical Submerged Arc Welding) pipes, along with 56-inch diameter LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding) pipes made from L450ME quality steel, certified for the safe transportation of up to 100% hydrogen.
Pipe production, including internal epoxy coating for enhanced flow and external triple polyethylene anti-corrosion protection, occurs at the company’s facilities in Thisvi, Boeotia.
The certification process for the Adriatica pipeline leverages Corinth Pipeworks’ extensive experience in manufacturing hydrogen-compatible pipes, supported by advanced testing facilities designed for high gas pressure conditions.
“We are proud to receive these contracts, which reinforce our longstanding collaboration with Snam in shaping Europe’s future energy landscape,” stated Elias Bekiros, General Manager of Corinth Pipeworks.
“Our commitment to setting and achieving new standards of excellence in the energy sector remains steadfast, and we look forward to further advancing the industry.”
