Today, protothema.gr reports on a tragic accident that occurred on Friday morning (6/6) involving a 65-year-old municipal employee on Poseidon Avenue.
Shocking footage reveals that the taxi driver, for reasons yet unclear, collided with a garbage truck, tragically running over the woman. The impact was so severe that it caused the large vehicle to sway significantly.
The incident left a fellow 65-year-old witness in disbelief, as he helplessly watched the woman lose her life in such a brutal and inexplicable manner.
The accident occurred just before 7:00 AM. A passenger in the taxi sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Red Cross, while the taxi driver emerged unhurt.
Key questions remain about the driver’s actions, as footage shows no indication of interference from other vehicles, leading to speculation about why he failed to slow down.
Both the taxi driver and the garbage truck driver have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The taxi driver faces serious charges, including one felony and three misdemeanors for dangerous driving leading to another’s death, causing personal injury through negligence, and manslaughter by negligence. His driving license has been revoked, while the garbage truck driver, whose license had expired, is facing only a misdemeanor charge.
The two suspects have been given until next Tuesday to submit their pleas before the investigating magistrate. Notably, the 58-year-old garbage truck driver is charged solely with a misdemeanor.
