Aktor identifies substantial opportunities for expanding its operations in Romania, a country of strategic significance for the Group. Aktor has already invested in specialized mechanical equipment there.
In Romania, infrastructure projects are being auctioned at a rapid pace, with a total investment of 45 billion euros planned for energy, railways, and roads by 2030.
Aktor is gearing up to participate in public tenders for two railway projects with a combined budget of 2.8 billion euros, as well as a road project worth 0.9 billion (totaling 3.7 billion euros).
The Greek Group currently holds a project backlog in Romania of approximately 880 million euros and employs about 700 workers (150 Greeks among them) who are involved in some of the largest transportation projects underway.
Recently, Aktor completed the Bucharest Southern Peripheral Motorway A0 (Lot 3) road axis, with an overall cost of 305 million euros, which will finalize the city’s outer route.
Aktor is also working on the Apata – Cata section (Lot-2) as part of the upgrade of the Brașov – Simeria railway line, crucial for the Trans-European Rhine – Danube Corridor and Europe’s strategic infrastructure. This technically challenging project has a budget of 507 million euros and includes the construction of two twin tunnels in the Homorod and Ormenis mountain ranges, measuring 6.9 km and 5.1 km respectively, designed for speeds of 160 km/h. As of April 30, 2025, physical progress stands at 38%.
