The African dust has transformed the landscapes of Heraklion and Chania into a surreal scene, with the sky taking on an orange hue.
This orange layer of dust blanketing parts of Crete, combined with high temperatures and rainfall, has created an oppressive atmosphere.
The Civil Protection Authority of Crete has urged residents to limit travel, particularly those with respiratory or heart issues, as well as children and the elderly.
Meteorologists predict that these conditions will continue at least until Sunday evening, when the southeastern winds bringing the dust to Crete are expected to decrease.
