Manolis Papadopoulos passed away at the age of 57 on April 22, 1968. As a central defender, he began his career at Olympiacos and Ionikos Nikaia before joining AEK in the summer of 1992.

During his three years with AEK, he made 44 appearances and helped the team secure two league titles in 1993 and 1994. After his time at AEK, he went on to play for Apollon Athens and Ethnikos Piraeus.

In 2011, Papadopoulos returned to AEK, taking on the role of youth team coach. He later served as an assistant coach for the first team and acted as interim head coach during the 2012/2013 season.
