The countdown is on for this year’s Acropolis Rally, set to kick off on June 26 at the Panathinaiko Stadium.
The official press conference for the rally took place today at the Zappeion, where Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis announced that at 18:05 the event will feature a 1.5-kilometre ultra-special stage, open to the public for free. The superhighway will commence near the statue of Myron’s Discobolus and will traverse Vasileos Konstantinou and Vassilissis Olga, concluding at Zappeion. Vroutsis emphasized that “the superhighway isn’t merely an opening act; it’s the highlight of the race and a showcase for Greece.”
“On Thursday, June 26, the superspeedway of the Rally of the Gods will take place right in the heart of Athens. The city is donning its festive attire as we start from Kallimarmaro, passing by the pillars of Olympic Zeus and Zappeion. I believe the entire world will be buzzing about this superhighway,” stated Athens Mayor Charis Dukas.
Nikos Hardalias, the regional governor of Attica, expressed the Region’s continuous support for such events, stating, “We firmly believe in the values of sport, in openness, and in their connection to culture and the unique identity of our region.”
It’s important to note that the main action of the Acropolis Rally will unfold at the Lamia Panhellenic Exhibition, which will serve as the race venue until June 29. The event will feature 17 special stages covering a total of 341.43 racing kilometres.
