The Acropolis Museum is set to mark its 16th anniversary with a concert featuring the Symphony Orchestra of the Department of Music Studies at the National University of Athens. This special event will take place on Friday, June 20, at 9 PM in the museum’s courtyard.
The orchestra, made up of both male and female students, will perform classical pieces by Greek composers alongside film music, under the direction of an Assistant Professor from the University. Admission is free for all attendees.
On the same day, the museum’s exhibition spaces will be open from 9 AM to 10 PM, as is customary every Friday, with regular ticket pricing. The restaurant on the second floor will remain open until midnight (reservations can be made by calling 210 9000915).
In addition to the permanent displays, visitors will have the chance to join Museum archaeologists for a tour of the exhibition *ALLSPICE – Michael Rakowitz and Ancient Cultures*. This exhibition, presented by the Acropolis Museum and NEON in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, showcases original artifacts from ancient Middle Eastern and Southeastern Mediterranean civilizations alongside contemporary works by the renowned Iraqi-American artist Michael Rakowitz. The exhibition weaves together narratives of human connection and themes spanning cultural heritage, loss, restoration, survival, and creation. Admission to the exhibition and the archaeologist-led presentations is free.
