The municipality of Maashorst in the Netherlands has acknowledged accidentally discarding 46 pieces of art, which includes a notable piece by Andy Warhol featuring former Queen Beatrix.
This mishap occurred last year during renovation work. The artworks, stored in the building’s basement without any established storage guidelines, likely ended up in the trash as a result.
Warhol’s piece, created in 1985, is a silkscreen print valued at approximately €15,000, according to the BBC. The estimated total worth of all discarded works is around €22,000.

Former Queen Beatrix visited the city last October and was photographed at the project site.
She served as queen from 1980 until her abdication in 2013 in favor of her son Willem.
Warhol’s artwork was part of a series dedicated to queens.
