As reported by haniotika-nea.gr, the esteemed Metropolitan Emmanuel Papagiannakis has passed away today (April 8) in a hospital located in Attica.
He graduated from the Theological School of Thessaloniki in 1989 and continued his studies there with postgraduate work in 1990 and 1991. He became a monk in 1976 and was ordained as a deacon on July 5, 1981, and as an elder on July 31, 1982. He served as a Chaplain and Preacher in the Metropolis of Kydonia. In 2001, he was appointed Protosynagogue of the Metropolis of Kydonia. On November 7, 2006, he was unanimously elected as Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas, and on November 18, 2006, he was ordained at the Holy Church of St. Minas in Heraklion.
