A record 4,386 applications have been submitted for admission to the 28 nurseries operated by Greece’s Public Employment Service (DYPA) for the 2025-2026 school year, representing a 6% increase from the previous year, as announced officially.
The DYPA nurseries are open from September 1 to July 31, Monday through Friday, from 06:45 to 16:00, serving infants and toddlers aged 6 months to 4 years.
The daily schedule includes a range of creative activities designed to promote the educational, emotional, and physical development of the children.
Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided at no cost, with selection prioritizing economic and social criteria.
Nurseries in the Attica Region: Agia Varvara, Ano Liosia, Elefsina, Keratsini, Menidi, Moschato, Olympic Village, Peristeri, and Chaidari.
In addition, a new nursery is set to open this September in a DYPA facility in Ilion.
Nurseries in Other Regions: Agrinio, Arta, Drama, Igoumenitsa, Ioannina, Kavala, Kalamata, Karditsa, Karpenisi, Komotini, Messolonghi, Naoussa, Xanthi, Patras, Pylaia (Thessaloniki), Serres, and Trikala.
It is important to note that the Larissa nursery, which suffered extensive damage during storm Daniel, is anticipated to reopen in early 2026.
In the near future, provisional lists of accepted, alternate, and excluded applicants will be published, allowing eligible applicants to submit objections.
