The marathon that began last year has concluded, with nearly one-third of tourism business applications receiving approval for regional funding. A total of 1,573 applications were approved, amounting to a public investment of €295,757,680. The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Nikos Papathanasis, confirmed these results after the evaluations by ten committees overseeing the initiative “Supporting the Establishment and Operation of New Small and Medium-Sized Tourism Enterprises” across various regions: North Aegean, Eastern Macedonia – Thrace, Central Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Western Greece, Crete, Western Macedonia, Ionian Islands, Sterea Greece, and Peloponnese.
In total, 5,165 applications were reviewed, with a requested budget of €1,753,746,326.18 and total public expenditure requests summing up to €959,089,150.77.
This decision finalizes the evaluation of the funding applications from all 13 regions in the country. Out of 6,669 funding requests submitted nationwide, 2,021 were approved, leading to a total public expenditure of €379,539,901.37.
The average grant awarded was €187,798.
On May 30, results were announced for Attica and South Aegean, with 448 funding applications approved and a total public allocation of €83,782,221.17.
This initiative aims to support SMEs interested in investing in tourism, thereby generating jobs, extending the tourist season, and bolstering the sector—an essential component of the national development strategy.
The approved projects will be financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national contributions.
Beneficiaries will receive electronic notifications at the email address provided in their applications, facilitated through the Integrated State Aid Information System (ISIS).
