In a startling development regarding the disappearance of 3-year-old Madeleine McCann, a new theory has emerged shortly after recent searches took place in southern Portugal.
According to the Mirror, Portuguese authorities are investigating a British man and his German wife, who are suspected of potentially having caused the girl’s death in a drunk driving incident.
This allegation surfaced after the man’s sister alerted the police in 2018, suggesting he might be concealing a “dark secret.”
It’s important to note that the German and Portuguese investigators, who conducted the latest search for Madeleine McCann—18 years post-disappearance—have not yet commented on any findings from the three-day operation.
Reports indicate that the search focused on debris near an abandoned building roughly a kilometer from where the child was last seen, as well as examining other sites and vacant structures a few kilometers away from the resort of Praia da Luz.
Investigators also collected soil samples and some animal bones during their search.
“The police will never incriminate me,” says main suspect
Meanwhile, 48-year-old Christian Bruckner, the primary suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance, claims that German police will “never” have enough evidence to implicate him.
In a letter featured in Britain’s Sun newspaper, Bruckner ridiculed the absence of evidence against him, asking:
“Is there a body? No. Was I or my vehicle clearly seen near the crime scene on the night of the event?
Is there any DNA evidence linking me to the crime scene? Are there any traces of the victim’s DNA on my vehicle?
Are there any other traces or items containing the victim’s DNA in my possession? Photographs? And let’s not forget, is there a body? All no, no, no.”
