The National Organization for the Provision of Health Services (EOPYY) will launch home delivery of medications starting June 16, as announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis during an event at EOPYY’s Conference Center in Pefki.
The Prime Minister referred to the occasion as “a significant and heartfelt day, marking the realization of a long-held vision and request from patient associations for the essential right to have medications delivered at home.”
Commenting on distressing situations that accelerated the adoption of this measure, Mr. Mitsotakis stated: “Upon witnessing these scenes, I realized there has to be a better approach to support patients.”
“Every initiative of this nature involves substantial regulatory and legislative efforts to ensure thorough implementation,” the Prime Minister continued, emphasizing that “we are starting with a certified company” and inviting the public to “trust this distribution channel, which will enhance and simplify their lives.”
“I focus on two key concepts: dignity and care. It is undignified for a vulnerable citizen to wait for hours in line. Care reflects a state’s commitment to its citizens in need, aligning with EOPYY’s emblem of compassion, symbolizing the organization’s promise of care,” he added.
In his closing remarks, he stated, “We will closely monitor the situation to resolve any challenges” and expressed gratitude to patient associations for their valuable dialogue with the Health Ministry, helping to accurately present the relevant issues.
