The highly anticipated meeting of Greece’s Big-5 football clubs is currently in progress, but only Aris owner Thodoris Karypidis is physically attending at the hotel venue. The other four clubs have sent representatives, while additional participants are expected to join via video conference.
This gathering was organized at UEFA’s invitation to discuss the new format for European club competitions. UEFA’s delegation includes Secretary General Thodoris Theodoridis and Mario Georgiou, Head of National Associations’ Services.
The agenda is extensive: addressing the far-reaching implications of the updated competition structure, preparing for the upcoming European season, and establishing a collaborative partnership to enhance the benefits for Greek football both nationally and at the club level.
In the Arena, Only Karypidis Attends
While the other club owners are not present, they have sent representatives to the meeting. Panathinaikos is represented by Takis Fyssas and Athina Malomenou, while AEK is sending CEO and First Vice President Minas Lissandrou and General Manager Angeliki Arkadi. PAOK is represented by First Vice President and CEO Maria Goncharova, and Olympiacos by First Vice President Kostas Karapapas and International Relations Manager Kostas Vernikos.
Additionally, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) is represented via teleconference by President Makis Gagkatis and Executive Secretary Domna Tsioni.
