A 48-year-old Turkish man was arrested at dawn in Kato Vrysini Rodopi for allegedly shooting at a NIS team in Thermi last Tuesday. He had secured legal residency in Greece, having been granted asylum in 2023 due to his eligibility for international protection. This individual had previously faced arrests for illegal entry into Greece in 2009 and 2018.
However, he is also wanted in Turkey for serious offenses, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, weapon laws violations, and escape.
The man is expected to be presented before a prosecutor in Thessaloniki, while two of his accomplices remain at large.
