Amidst the challenges of information overload and geopolitical uncertainty, George Tsavliris, founder of Tsavliris Salvage, emphasized the need for greater trust in the younger generation during his remarks at the 9th Shipping Conference organized by “Naftemporiki.”
“What should we focus on first? The conflict in Ukraine, the sanctions, the turmoil in the Red Sea? These factors create a confusing atmosphere that will ultimately impact the next generation more than us,” he stated.
Although experience is crucial, he stressed that it alone isn’t sufficient. “You’ve invited us for our expertise, but that experience doesn’t always serve society’s best interests. Those with experience often lack the flexibility, boldness, and confidence to take risks that younger individuals, in their 30s and 40s, can embrace,” he remarked.
On the geopolitical landscape, he expressed skepticism and concern: “Can anyone predict when the war in Ukraine will cease or when the hypocritical sanctions against Russia will be lifted?” He noted that the resulting ambiguity and lack of clear answers are paralyzing: “I’ve never encountered such an overwhelming amount of information that leads to this level of confusion.”
