The prosecutor highlighted that the defendant’s assertion—claiming that former colleagues conspired against him—is considered unconvincing at this stage. He noted that three medical documents provided by the actress indicate she has sustained physical injuries.
Sofía Pavlidou accused her co-star of assaulting her backstage during their play. She alleged that Manos Papagianis attacked her by throwing her onto a chair, resulting in injuries while verbally abusing her.
The prosecutor specifically stated: “It seems the defendant forcibly entered Sofía Pavlidou’s dressing room and pushed her. He has admitted to pushing her. All three medical documents submitted by Pavlidou confirm her physical injuries. Thus, the defendant’s actions clearly led to her injuries. In my opinion, the testimony from the theater employee, who claimed nothing happened, is not credible. The complainant could not have injured herself or fallen without assistance. Additionally, the defendant’s assertion of a conspiracy by former colleagues lacks credibility, as no prior conflicts among them have been established. I recommend a conviction, consistent with the initial trial.”
Earlier, Papagianis’s lawyer, Gianna Panagopoulou, mentioned on the show “Super Katerina” that Pavlidou was secretly recording Vasilis Gkourousis, the producer of the play, backstage during a performance in 2018. She posited that this evidence supports Papagianis’s defense, suggesting a conspiracy and targeted harassment.
Panagopoulou explained: “The trial is ongoing, with Manos testifying. I hope it concludes today. He is seeking a fair trial. Mr. Papagianis maintains his innocence regarding the allegations. He requests the court to determine whether any bodily harm occurred, which he has consistently denied. Pavlidou is seeking over 80,000 euros in damages. Attempts were made to mediate for an out-of-court settlement; however, only Pavlidou’s representative attended the process. Almost eight years later, we discover that she secretly recorded Mr. Gkourousis without his knowledge. This material supports Mr. Papagianis’s claim of conspiracy and intentional actions aimed at damaging his reputation.”
In November 2022, Manos Papagianis was convicted of simple bodily harm and sentenced to four months in prison, which was suspended. Pavlidou was acquitted of dangerous bodily harm charges, but an appeal was filed by Papagianis’s side. Supporters of Pavlidou included Sotiris Kalivatsis, Rea Toutountzi, Koni Metaxa, and Katia Nikolaidou, while Papagianis was supported by his wife, Angeliki Daliani, Vasilis Gkourousis, theater producer Dimitris Angelopoulos, and a technical staff member.
