A remarkable Guinness World Record has been achieved by a robot that solved the Rubik’s Cube in just 0.103 seconds—quicker than the blink of an eye!
The robot, known as Purdubik’s Cube, was created by four students from Purdue University: Matthew Patrohay, Junpei Ota, Aden Hurd, and Alex Berta.
“We completed the Rubik’s Cube in 103 milliseconds, while a human eye takes 200 to 300 milliseconds to blink. So, before you even notice a move, we’ve already solved it,” Patrohay explained.
The record-breaking feat occurred on April 21, and Patrohay shared that his interest was sparked after watching a video of MIT students who completed it in 0.305 seconds. “I thought it would be a great project to break that record. Now at Purdue, we’ve shown we can do it even faster,” he said.
It’s worth noting that when robotic Rubik’s Cube competitions began in 2009, the first record set by Irishman Peter Redmond was 1 minute and 4 seconds.
