The pivotal role of Greek-owned ocean-going shipping, the largest globally, in both the international and domestic economies, will be underscored during the 9th Naftemporiki Shipping Conference.
On May 28, 2025, at the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens – Nafsika Ballroom, Zampelas Apostolos, Partner and Leader of Shipping Practice at McKinsey & Company, will unveil key findings from research conducted in partnership with the Union of Greek Shipowners. This research highlights the significant positive influence of Greek-owned shipping on the nation’s economy.
It outlines several strategies and actions aimed at not only maintaining but also enhancing the sector’s domestic presence by an additional 4 billion euros, representing an increase of around 30% from current levels.
These initiatives include upgrading fleet management services, bolstering infrastructure, advancing digital transformation, pursuing the decarbonization of shipping, and cultivating specialized human resources.
The 9th Naftemporiki Shipping Conference is endorsed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.
