The German Foreign Minister, Johan Vandefull, emphasized the United States’ readiness to consider implementing further sanctions against Russia. He remarked that as long as Vladimir Putin remains unwilling to engage in genuine negotiations, European nations are prepared to intensify existing measures.
While in Brussels for discussions with his EU counterparts, Vandefull conveyed the West’s frustration with Moscow. “It is disheartening to witness Russia’s inaction. We must respond,” he stated, highlighting the absence of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire from Russia.
The German official underscored the clear expectations from Washington: “We have consistently communicated that we expect one thing from Russia—an immediate, unconditional ceasefire. We also anticipate that our American allies will not overlook the lack of this commitment from Moscow.”
