The Greek-owned tanker “Green Admire,” managed by Aegean Shipping and George Melisanidis, has resumed its journey following 36 hours of unwarranted detention.
Russian authorities had detained the vessel without justification after it left an Estonian port.
On Monday afternoon, after thorough inspections, the oil tanker departed from the Russian island of Gogland, where it had been moored, and continued on its route.
All crew members are reported safe.
The Liberian-flagged Green Admire was transporting shale oil and was en route to Rotterdam.
Estonia’s Transport Ministry noted that this was the first occurrence of such an incident.
This event took place just three days after Russia deployed an aircraft during Estonia’s effort to stop a Russian oil tanker.
On May 15, the Estonian Navy attempted to halt the tanker Jaguar, which was making its way to the Russian port of Primorsk. The operation involved multiple vessels and helicopters, and the Russian Aerospace Forces dispatched a Su-35 fighter jet to the scene. Ultimately, the tanker reached its destination safely.
