AADE inspectors at Customs have uncovered over 81 kilograms of cocaine concealed within two containers of bananas. These containers originated from Ecuador and were headed for the port of Thessaloniki.
During routine inspections, the AADE inspectors from the 1st Thessaloniki Customs Office utilized a self-propelled X-Ray machine to identify a suspicious organic substance in the refrigeration units of the banana containers.
The estimated value of the confiscated cocaine is roughly 2,250,000 euros.
Customs officials, in collaboration with the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, swiftly seized the drugs, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
