The next few days in Greece will see predominantly stable weather, though rain and northerly winds are expected. According to EMY, localized strong weather phenomena will occur until the afternoon in central and eastern Macedonia, particularly during the midday and afternoon in Thessaly and eastern Peloponnese.
As Alpha meteorologist George Tsatrafyllias notes in a recent post, thermal storms and a low-pressure system are creating a brief autumn-like spell.
Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated during the warmer hours today on the mainland and in Crete, especially in mountain regions, with temperatures 5-6 degrees below average and winds from the north reaching up to 6 Beaufort. Wednesday and Thursday will see limited volatility, with temperatures peaking at 24 degrees Celsius. However, a low-pressure system on Friday and Saturday is expected to bring rain, dust, and thunderstorms to most areas, coupled with strong southerly winds and temperatures in the 30s in Crete, while other regions will see highs around 23-24 degrees.
Temperatures Reaching 27-29 Degrees on Monday
On Monday, May 12, temperatures remained steady, hitting 27-29 degrees in several locations. The highest temperature recorded was 29.2 degrees Celsius in Gortyna, Heraklion.
