In the past 24 hours, thirty-six agroforestry fires have occurred in the country. Of these, 31 were swiftly controlled at their initial stages, while firefighters are currently managing five additional fires.
Local investigation agencies, along with teams from the Arson Investigation Department (ICD), are looking into the causes of these fires. The Fire Brigade urges citizens to exercise caution and to adhere to instructions from relevant authorities in case of an emergency.
According to the Fire Risk Prediction Map released by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, there is an elevated fire risk (risk category 3) in 17 regions nationwide for tomorrow, Wednesday (10.6.2025).
Notably, high fire risks are forecasted for Attica, Kythira, Corinthia, Argolida, the Cyclades, Lesvos, Chios, Psara, Samos, and Ikaria. Similar risks also apply to Crete, Karpathos, and Kasos, as well as certain areas in Evia, Skyros, Laconia, and Boeotia.
